Text Only Version Lakenheath Shooting Ground & Clay Target Centre

It is with great sadness I report to the Lakenheath Skeet shooters and the UK skeet shooting community that Timmy Convoy passed away after a very short illness on the 22nd December 2008.

Tim by his very nature was a well respected and extremely popular skeet shooter. His shooting ability will be remembered not by what I or others might say, but by the 100 straights he shot and what he achieved on the skeet ranges across the UK.

I have memories of shooting with Tim that are just priceless. Our time in the England skeet team together, the "Dog Squad" antics, and I have to concede that when I won the Iron Man in 1991, shooting with Barry Davison, Timmy and Charlie Lucas, it was Timmy constantly in my right ear "come on Ush, you can do this" that made the difference.

Where I come from, people are quantified for what they stand for by little East End sayings that are never said or given lightly. "A diamond", "24 Carat" and "salt of this earth" are just some of the London verse that would quantify Tim. Tim was all these things and much much more.

He will be very sadly missed, never forgotten and always remembered as the gentleman that he was.

I am sure you will join me in sending our sincere condolences to Helen and Tims remaining family at this terribly sad time, our hearts and thoughts are with you all.

Tims funeral is at Pitsea Crematorium on the 2nd January at 3.20pm.

Helen has asked it be known, that charity donations would be preferred to flowers, although it is the choice of those attending. Any donations received by Helen will be split between two cancer charities. Please make your cheques payable to Helen Convoy.
