So you think you can give it a shot in National Shooting Week? National Shooting Week, which will run from Saturday 29 May – Sunday 6 June 2010, looks set to be bigger than ever. More than 100 shooting schools and clubs across the nation will open their doors so that the public can experience this exciting sport.
Shooting is one of the most inclusive Olympic and Paralympic sports, where gender, age and disability are no barriers to success. This is the fourth National Shooting Week, a Government-backed initiative organised by the British Shooting Sports Council.
Minister for Sport, Gerry Sutcliffe MP, said: "National Shooting Week is an opportunity for the sport to show itself to the wider community in the UK. The week gives an opportunity for all the misconceptions about shooting to be put to one side but it also gives people the chance to understand that this is a sport that can be for everybody."
Peter Usher of Lakenheath Clay Target Centre in Brandon, near Mildenhall said: "Shooting is a very popular sport with more than one million regular participants. We're hoping that people from all walks of life will try shooting for the first time during the week. Why not give it a shot and call us?"
Lakenheath Clay Target Centre is hosting an open day on Saturday 29th May from 10:00am – 5:00pm. This day consists of discount ‘have a go' clay pigeon shooting lessons for everyone to try. Lessons need to be pre-booked and pre-paid by calling Janet on 01638 533353 or emailing info@lctc.co.uk. Please visit www.lctc.co.uk for more details.
The week is aimed at people who have never experienced target shooting before, though all are welcome! More information can be found by going to www.nationalshootingweek.co.uk |
