 About Lakenheath Clay Target Centre

Lakenheath Clay target Centre is situated in excess of 100 acres of beautiful wooded Breckland countryside here in Suffolk. Mildenhall is the nearest town, with the historic racing town of Newmarket and its bustling town centre just twelve miles away.

In 2005 this shooting ground was awarded the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), "Premier shooting ground status".

Premier ground status was awarded to nine active competition clay pigeon shooting grounds in the UK at that time. Quite simply the shooting grounds had to meet a very strict pre set criteria determined by the CPSA, to achieve Premier Status.

This CPSA Premier Ground Status along with the continued investment and re development of this clay pigeon shooting ground has established us as one of the finest practice, corporate, and competition clay pigeon shooting facilities in the UK.

For novices to expert shooters this facility boasts a hugely varied mix of targets to suite all shooting abilities thrown from over 100 fully automatic Promatic clay pigeon traps serving the whole site.

All the shooting stands at Lakenheath have BLN counter box's fitted. The BLN system allows the shooter the full flexibility of not only Solo shooting, but also the choice of target order and sequence on any of our clay target shooting stands.

Listed below is what we offer. Needless to say with two 120' towers and 21 sporting stands you are sure to find a host of targets that suits your individual requirements. Our clay targets simulate driven, dropping or crossing birds, along with teal and rabbits, all in a variety of varying clay pigeon styles and colours.

Naturally, expert tuition is available for all levels of shooter at very competitive rates, along with a very attractively priced Lakenheath Membership saving you £4 for every 100 targets shot.

At the centre of the site is the shooting reception area and an excellent gunroom and accessory shop, complimented by our restaurant and bar offering English and American cuisine.

During the summer months barbecues are a regular event at Lakenheath and provide the perfect end to an action packed day.

Lakenheath Clay Target Centre is also a busy corporate centre and the ideal venue for your corporate hospitality, team building, staff reward, product launches and package clay pigeon shooting days, with a variety of set packages and bespoke options to suit any requirement or budget.

Our site layout is comprised of the following;

  • 4 CPSA registered Skeet fields
  • 4 CPSA registered Sportrap layouts, 1 being on an 8' permanent platform (The Gantry)
  • Two 120' foot towers.

Wellingtons, a thing of the past - A superb aspect of this shooting ground that sets us way in front of the other shooting grounds is that the whole Lakenheath shooting complex is situated over sand.

All our paths and walkways stay very clean even on the wettest of days, making us fully wheelchair accessible with absolutely no need for wellington boots in even the worst weather conditions.

Who says clay shooters cant live in harmony with the local wildlife. I captured this photograph in front of the clubhouse on a Wednesday night when the floodlite skeet was being shot the other side of the building.
